GERARD's NFL PLAYOFFS CONTEST
FINAL OVERALL RANKINGS - TOP 12

1st = $228 | 2nd = $91 | 3rd = $46 | 4th-12th = $10 each
After 34 days, 13 playoff games, and hundreds of entry picks from 91 contestants, the winner of this year's NFL playoffs contest is Caity R! She scored a total of 3,260 points throughout the four weeks and correctly guessed the victors of 10 of the 13 playoff games, including the Super Bowl. She began the contest in 79th place, but jumped up to 6th place in Week 2, and then finished strong in the final 2 weeks to claim the top spot and the top cash prize of $228. Congrats, Caity!
Kevin S just missed the top score by only 40 points, finishing in 2nd place with 3,220 points and winning $91. Finishing in 3rd place is Willy C with a total of 3,145 points. He wins the 3rd place prize of $46. Nine contestants round out the Top 12, each winning $10: Fritz R, Aji D, Jen C, Cheryl M, Jack G, Andria C, Tim H, Rob N, and Izzy V. Congrats to the Top 12, especially for the first-time prize winners (Caity R, Kevin S, Fritz R, Aji D, Jack G, Rob N, and Izzy V)!

Overall, Caity R improved the most in the rankings, jumping up an impressive 78 places (from 79th to 1st). Other contestants who made big comebacks in the contest were Tom C (90th to 15th), Jack G (77th to 8th), Sylver C (83rd to 16th), and Regan A (79th to 25th). Caity R performed the best among the 13 newcomers this year, finishing in 1st place. Other notable rookies were Kevin S (2nd), Fritz R (4th) and Drew B (13th). There were a total of 33 contestants who were in the overall Top 12 at some point during the contest, and 10 contestants who made the overall Top 3. The contestants who scored the most points in WEEK 4 were: Jen C (1,625 pts), Jack G(1,600 pts), Willy C (1,525 pts), Izzy V (1,475 pts), and Jami L (1,475 pts).

46 contestants correctly predicted that the Los Angeles Rams would win Super Bowl LVI, with 12 of them getting both the margin of victory and over/under correct as well. The Rams won their second Lombardi Trophy (and their first title in Los Angeles), as Matthew Stafford and Super Bowl MVP Cooper Kupp led a 4th-quarter comeback over Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals.

Eleven of the Top 12 contestants correctly picked the Rams to win -- that's how important the Super Bowl victor always is in determining this contest's winners. In an alternate universe where the Bengals scored a TD in the last minute to win their first Super Bowl, the Top 3 contestants would have been Aji D in 1st, Paul M in 2nd, and John E in 3rd!

Throughout this contest I've always tried to be as thorough as possible, double- and triple-checking the results every week. But there's always the possibility for human error, even when using an Excel spreadsheet to make all the calculations. So to give everyone a chance to review the accuracy of this contest's final results, I will wait a few days before sending the Top 12 contestants their cash prizes (via their online payment method of choice, or check/cash). During this time, if anyone finds any errors/discrepancies in the entry picks or leaderboard scores, please let me know right away. You will have until Sunday, February 20 at 11am CST to inform me of any errors. After that time, I will award the winning contestants their prizes, and this year's contest will officially come to a close.
I hope you had as much fun with this contest as I did, and I look forward to doing it again next year. 'Til then, thanks for playing and God bless!
