GERARD's NFL PLAYOFFS CONTEST
FINAL OVERALL RANKINGS - TOP 11

1st = $188 | 2nd = $75 | 3rd = $38 | 4th-11th = $10 each
After 35 days, 13 playoff games, and hundreds of entry picks from 75 contestants, the winner of this year's NFL playoffs contest is Arpita G! She scored a total of 3,550 points throughout the four weeks and correctly guessed the victors of 10 of the 13 playoff games, including the Super Bowl. She began the contest in 5th place, fell to 54th place in Week 2, but finished strong in the final 2 weeks to claim the top spot and the top cash prize of $188. Congrats, Arpita!
Tim H just missed the top score by only 25 points, finishing in 2nd place with 3,525 points and winning $75. Finishing in 3rd place is Greg C with a total of 3,405 points. He wins the 3rd place prize of $38. Eight contestants round out the Top 11, each winning $10: Marianne A, Brian D, Jack K, Edmund V, Stu H, Romeo G, Ofelia V, and Gavin D. Congrats to the Top 11, especially for the first-time prize winners (Arpita G, Marianne A, Jack K, Ofelia V)!

Overall, Arpita G improved the most in the rankings, jumping up an impressive 53 places (from 54th to 1st). Other contestants who made big comebacks in the contest were Greg C (55th to 3rd), Sheannse S (62nd to 12th), Jen C (69th to 20th), and Rob N (69th to 21st). Jack K performed the best among the 8 newcomers this year, finishing in 6th place; he also correctly guessed the most playoff winners (12 of 13). Other notable rookies were Danny D (13th) and Regan A (16th). There were a total of 25 contestants who were in the overall Top 11 at some point during the contest, and 8 contestants who made the overall Top 3. The contestants who scored the most points in WEEK 4 were: Jen C (1,625 pts), Jack K (1,550 pts), Arpita G (1,425 pts), Marianne A (1,425 pts), and Tim H (1,425 pts).

32 contestants correctly predicted that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would win Super Bowl LV, but none of these 32 contestants also got both the margin of victory and over/under correct as well. The Bucs won their second Lombardi Trophy (the first for Coach Bruce Arians), as Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady and the Bucs' tenacious defense overwhelmed Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Nine of the Top 11 contestants correctly picked the Chiefs to win -- that's how important the Super Bowl victor always is in determining this contest's winners. In an alternate universe where the Chiefs won big, the Top 3 contestants would have been Brian D in 1st, Romeo G in 2nd, and Joel Z in 3rd!

Throughout this contest I've always tried to be as thorough as possible, double- and triple-checking the results every week. But there's always the possibility for human error, even when using an Excel spreadsheet to make all the calculations. So to give everyone a chance to review the accuracy of this contest's final results, I will wait a few days before sending the Top 11 contestants their cash prizes (via their online payment method of choice, or check/cash). During this time, if anyone finds any errors/discrepancies in the entry picks or leaderboard scores, please let me know right away. You will have until Sunday, February 14 at 11am CST to inform me of any errors. After that time, I will award the winning contestants their prizes, and this year's contest will officially come to a close.
I hope you had as much fun with this contest as I did, and I look forward to doing it again next year. 'Til then, thanks for playing and God bless!
