Top 3 (2020).png

1st = $205 | 2nd = $82 | 3rd = $41 | 4th-11th = $10 each

After 35 days, 11 playoff games, and hundreds of entry picks from 82 contestants, the winner of this year's NFL playoffs contest is Romeo G! He scored a total of 3,475 points throughout the four weeks and correctly guessed the victors of 8 of the 11 playoff games, including the Super Bowl. He was consistent throughout the contest, never falling out of the overall Top 6 until he finally claimed the top spot and the top cash prize of $205. Congrats, Romeo!

Willy C just missed the top score by only 5 points, finishing in 2nd place with 3,470 points and winning $82. Finishing in 3rd place is Eric A with a total of 3,405 points. He wins the 3rd place prize of $41. Eight contestants round out the Top 11, each winning $10: Brian D, Steven M, Jeremy B, Jami L, Ray A, Allen C, Anna G, and Jen C. Congrats to all the prize winners!

Overall, Ray A improved the most in the rankings, jumping up an impressive 66 places (from 74th to 8th). Other contestants who made big comebacks in the contest were Jason L (75th to 15th), Sheannse S (80th to 25th), Allen C (60th to 9th), and Brian D (53rd to 4th). Jeremy B performed the best among the 14 newcomers this year, finishing in 6th place. Other notable rookies were Anna G (10th) and Vinnie M (16th). There were a total of 29 contestants who were in the overall Top 11 at some point during the contest, and 7 contestants who made the overall Top 3. The contestants who scored the most points in WEEK 4 were: Ray A (1,775 pts), Angela J (1,625 pts), Romeo G (1,600 pts), David S (1,575 pts), Aimee A (1,525 pts), and Steven M (1,525 pts).

48 contestants correctly predicted that the Kansas City Chiefs would win Super Bowl LIV, and only 6 contestants got the margin of victory and over/under correct as well. The Chiefs ended a 50-year drought to win their second Lombardi Trophy (the first for Coach Andy Reid), as Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes helped his team overcome a 10-point deficit in the 4th quarter to beat the San Francisco 49ers 31-20.

All of the Top 11 contestants correctly picked the Chiefs to win -- that's how important the Super Bowl victor always is in determining this contest's winners. In an alternate universe where the 49ers won, the Top 3 contestants would have been Brian F in 1st, Sally S in 2nd, and Joel Z in 3rd!

Over the last few days I've tried to be as thorough as possible, double- and triple-checking the final results of this contest. But there's always the possibility for human error, even when using an Excel spreadsheet to make all the calculations. So to give everyone a chance to review the accuracy of this contest's final results, I will wait a few days before sending the Top 11 contestants their cash prizes (via their online payment method of choice, or check/cash). During this time, if anyone finds any errors/discrepancies in the entry picks or leaderboard scores, please let me know right away. You will have until Sunday, February 9 at 11am CST to inform me of any errors. After that time, I will award the winning contestants their prizes, and this year's contest will officially come to a close.

I hope you had as much fun with this contest as I did, and I look forward to doing it again next year. 'Til then, thanks for playing and God bless!
